One of Singapore’s national WSH strategies is to create a healthy workforce in safe workplaces. This is part of the country’s vision to be A Country Renowned for Best Practices in
Workplace Safety and Health.
One of the strategic outcomes was to minimize hazards that lead to Occupational Diseases (ODs) through :
- Encouraging adoption of upstream measures to prevent ODs
- Expanding the WSHA’s list of reportable ODs
- Raising capability of medical community to detect and report ODs
- Increasing health hazard surveillance to more workplaces.
The proposed changes to the WSHA and WICA so as to achieve the above outcomes are to :
- Revise OD coverage
- Update nomenclature of ODs
- Align reportable and compensable ODs
- Remove conditions that arise from work-related accidents
- Re-organize OD Schedules
The proposed changes are now open for public consultations by 25th SEP 2025.
